What trends have you seen show up in the horse industry in past 20 years that you disagree with?
Q. Alternately, what former trends do you rarely see now that you would like to see more of? That western pleasure headset has been around for better than 20 years. We used to call them 'peanut rollers'. I hate that too.

A. I agree with the poster who said we're starting horses too young. It seems like there's a big push to get these horses under saddle and over fences faster and earlier, and to jump them higher sooner. I hate that. I've seen too many needless suspensory injuries, sore backs, tendon pulls, and more. Horses are getting hock and stifle injections at younger and younger ages. That's just wrong. I'm also not a fan of the way the equitation ring has been going lately. It used to be about developing young riders for our show jumping ranks. Now it seems to be whoever can leave out the most strides and make the sharpest turns wins. What happened to smart riding? What happened to straightness and balance? What were some popular fashion trends in 1996?
Q. I found out fashion trends such as navel piercings and "catsuits" were popular in 1991-1992 or generally the 90's, but I was looking for something specifically in 1996. Seeing as how I was only a little kid at the time, I was totally oblivious to trends ^^;;. Would anyone mind filling me in? Lists or links would be much appreciated, please and thank you :] !

A. i was in 6th grade in 1996 and i remember these things being in style but this was also cause i was punk rock... decorating backpack/jeans with safety pins and studs creepers (shoes) doc martens (shoes) bomber jackets (WAY in style) flannel and anything else "grunge" --- just think of the show "my so called life" --- google it and you will probably see some pics of that style also google "blossom" the show and that will show you some more stuff that's about all i remember way back when. good luck! edit: leotards were also really in style. the previous year bell bottoms were really in. i remember my 5th grade pic i was all hippie-d out. crazy to go from that to punk... thats childhood i guess :)
