Has anyone had luck selling their home without a realtor?
Q. I am planning to sell my home, but really can't afford a Realtor without cutting in to my down payment for my new home, so I am thinking of selling it myself. Has anyone had luck selling on their own and if so, do you have any helpful tips for selling fast. Thanks in advance!

A. Yes it can be done. You would advertise your property as FSBO (for sale by owner). Call one of your local Title Co.'s and they'll help you out alot. They have to handle the stuff in the end anyways. There's lot's of free advertising online, and you may be surprised but you can get some really great leads, sometimes from someone that will be moving to your area. Just be sure to write really good ads to grab attention to the special features of your home. Good luck

Why is selling a car on eBay getting harder to get good money?
Q. I have sold over 400 cars on eBay. It just doesn't seem to be like it used to be. Cars aren't selling for as much money. People used to fly in and buy cars from all over. Now I only get local people. I am selling them for more and faster in the local newspaper. Also, 1/2 the people that are top bidder don't even pay. It's just not barely worth it anymore. Does anyone else feel this way? If so, why? Haha, well now that you say it...I had a conversation with my dad today about him getting a car on eBay. I wasn't even thinking from the buyer's side...but I told him no way because I have bought 2 Corvettes and a 350Z from reputable dealers on eBay. All 3 promised me no paintwork. A. Vehicle shipping is too expensive. I live on the west coast and it seems like most of the dealers on ebay are from Texas or the east coast, and shipping a car out here is a minimum $1000. Add that to fact that you're bidding on something sight unseen and if something goes wrong you cannot take up your grievances in person, and it seems like more trouble than it's worth.

What are the best ways to make selling baby clothes very lucrative on eBay?
Q. I have sold baby clothes on ebay before and I sold everything I listed they sell very fast, but I spent more on shipping them, than I had made from the selling price. Someone said I need to buy a scale and use it to weigh the items before I post the shipping price so that I know exactly how much to charge. I have that part down. Are there specific items that sell more than others that I should focus on?

A. Unless they are designer labels or very top high street, I think it's only really worth selling baby items in bulk. Not necessarily a bin bag full... but I think grouping three or four pairs of jeans or dungarees together, or five tops, or similar, seems to do best. With newborn clothes making a little collection of basics, a few bodysuits, a few babygrows, some bibs, hats, socks etc. in one lot seems to do well. With older baby clothes, try to group things up that are relatively similar (to suit tastes) but not so similar that it's not worth having 2 of, together. For example sometimes I've looked at a bulk sale of 5 or 6 items, and I've liked all of it except for one thing. So if you try and match so that each item in each load… [cont.]

What should be the selling strategy of a stock for an inactive investor?
Q. A friend sells his stock whenever the stock drops 7% after purchase or his cost. That strategy saved him a lot in the past year when the market dropped about 50%. However, that also means, he lost all his gains with his stocks when the stock market dropped. Should he have a strategy to sell after GAINING, say 50%, and then re-buy the stock back, while maintaing the SELLING strategy of 7% of cost?
Asked by T E - Fri Apr 17 22:40:55 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments
A. From your question, it sounds like your friend sells the stock to lock in a loss, and then buys it back. Is that what you mean? I don't really see the purpose of selling in that case. Does he have tax reasons to lock in a loss? When he sells and buys back the same security, he isn't changing his investment, he is only paying unnecessary transaction fees. If he wants to continue to invest in the same stock, he should just hold it.

What would happen to a 15 year old caught selling hard drugs to other students in high school?
Q. What would happen if a 15 year old male in gr 10 was finally caught selling hard drugs (cocaine) to alot of other kids in school and has been apparently selling since the very starting of the school year? What are good methods for concert ticket selling?
Q. So my band is playing in the Skinnie Magazine Top 100 Bands event on April 2nd. And my band needs to sell around 30 tickets at about $15 each to people. The problem is, I really suck at selling things to people, so when I am not around my band, I really don't sell any. So, anyone have any good advice on selling these tickets to people, basically convincing people they want to come haha. All help is appreciated!

A. Do you have a Myspace or Face book? If so then what I would do is set an event date and invite people to it, this usually helps a lot and I've seen it work for some of my friends bands. It works well because so many people use them and information gets around really fast! If your band doesn't have a Myspace I would extremely recommend getting one. If that doesn't work try calling your friends and asking them to call there friends and spread the word. Or post a craigslist add for the concert if you are allowed to. If none of these work you could always try putting an add in the newspaper or something...

What to do if selling your car to a private buyer?
Q. I'm selling a car to a private buyer and just looking for what has to be done. We're selling it for $16k and we still owe $19k. Is there any type of contract that has to be signed? Also, we financed our car through the bank. The person buying it will also be financing it. How do the payments work out? Will their bank make a payment to us or our bank? Any advice, suggestions, etc will be appreciated! Thanks!
Asked by Bri - Tue Jan 8 14:16:46 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Their bank will cut them a check, which they can sign over to you, or write you their own check after they desposit it. Then, they pay you the $16k. Then, you pay your lender the $16k. You will still owe your lender $3k. Why you would do this, I don't know. But that's how it works. ALSO, you won't get the title for this vehicle until your loan is paid off. So, I really don't think this deal will work. Contact your lender.

What are good techniques for selling on Ebay?
Q. I'm new to selling on Ebay. I've always had luck on Amazon, but they take a big cut of what you earn. There are up sells that are suppose to help you sell your item on Ebay, like "bold" "highlight" "enlarge display image" etc. Which ones really work and help? Am I limiting myself by selling only in the US, it just seems less complicated. I'm not selling all the time for business, just once and awhile, like my older cell phones, or camara's. Is there anything that I can put in the details box to help sell my item or sound more professional or convincing? I'm actually looking into doing this as a job somday. Please help!

A. I have been selling on eBay for almost a year now and I can say that I rarely put any of the bold or highlight on my listings. I also do not take PayPal, but if you made your account at eBay after the second week of January then you would have to take PayPal. I have never sold anything out of the US, I think there is too much risk. Just make sure you make accurate and detailed listings. Be descriptive!! Good Luck!

Q. What is the law with selling tobacco pipes at concert venues? I wanted to start a tobacco shop, and decided I needed some money to start the shop, so I thought it would be a good idea to follow some of my favorite bands and sell these pipes at their concerts, I understand I would have to run the idea by whoever is hosting the concerts , but besides that, what are the laws conserning this? A. You would need a license from wherever you are but there should not be any restrictions other than a city license, but all laws are state sensitive so you would need to check with each state and each city you go to.~

What are the laws of selling a sort of homemade product?
Q. I am interested in starting my own online store, but the only piece of info I cant figure out is if there are any rules or regulations against what i would be doing. What I am wanting to do is make and sell a product from a recipe by my grandma. A. Often times they can ship it for less than the standard shipping charge, thus they make a profit. Likely more money than they would have gotten at the recycling center.

I am selling my house with a lease option. How does a lease option effect your debt to income ratio?
Q. I am selling my house with a lease option. I am wondering if this will effect my debt to income ratio when I try to get a loan for a new home.
Asked by Haley - Mon Apr 14 10:31:00 2008 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments
A. The process for this varies by lender (the one for your new home) - there are a couple options: Your new lender can order a "Comparable Rent Schedule" from an appraiser in your area. The appraiser will find out what homes like yours are currently renting for and report it back to the lender in an appraisal form. The proposed rent from the "rental" will be considered income and can lower your debt-to-income ratio. Or, if you've got a tenant, you can provide a signed rental agreement that shows you have tenants and income for the home. This will also lower your debt-to-income ratios. Like I said, it will depend upon many other qualifying factors and your new lender's guidelines. If you've got more questions, let me know!

What are the laws on selling designer inspired handbags?
Q. When I go on vacation I always see people selling designer handbag knockoffs. I want to set up shop and sell some but want to make sure its legal. I would of course tell people they are not the real thing, just inspired to look like the expensive ones. Also, where could I order lots of these purses? Thanks.

A. Selling "any" counterfeit item in the US is illegal, even if you tell people they aren't real you're still violating the laws in the US. However, as long as the purses don't have the same logo, name, etc. it can be sold. To order similar purses try putting words like "inspired by handbags" "designer handbags" and so forth.

What are some tips for selling on eBay?
Q. What are some selling tips for selling an item valued at about 400$? It is a retired doll with many pets, clothing, and additional accessories. Thanks in advance!

A. Well the best thing i can recommend is to start the auction during i time when you feel that would be the perfect time for the item to end. If you are selling a collectible doll sell start it on a weekend around 3pm est so that it ends at a perfect time no matter where in the US you are. The reason for this is so bidders get into a bidding war the last hour of the auction. This is when you make the most money!!! Also if you feel that this item is worth a fair amount i would say $200+ I would do a featured listing (cost $20) for this listing! you will get much more exposure and one of the biggest points i would say is start this out very low like $1.00 this does two thing you get charged by eBay for how much you start an auction at and the… [cont.]
