GNU Free Documentation License How to tell the primary element of art in a particular piece? Q. I have a test tomorrow in my art appreciation course. I was reviewing the study guide and realized that I am unable to identify the primary element. It seems like nearly all pieces contain line, shape, color, space and whatnot. What is the difference between a line painting and a shape painting? How much space is needed for the primary element to be space? If anyone knows of a site where I can practice identifying elements or of a place to go with several very clear examples of each, please let me know! Any personal knowledge is also appreciated. Please help... Asked by recreating_eve - Tue Sep 11 04:30:50 2007 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments A. These things you mention are abstract elements but are in all types of art so it is easier to identify them in abstract art. For example, look at Marc Rothko's paintings to see spacial elements and look at Jackson Pollock's work to see line elements. Now look at Franz Kline's work and see if you can tell which are the primary elements there. I wanna hit the baseball farther and have a quicker bat..what are the primary muscles used to hit a baseball...i was guesing thigh muscle and triceps? Asked by yea - Sun Jul 2 21:54:37 2006 - - 6 Answers - 0 Comments A. According to For a ball to be hit over 400 feet, the bat head must be accelerated to a speed in excess of 70 MPH in less than 5/30 of a second. About half that speed is developed in the last 1/30 of a second. The large amount of inertia that must be overcome to accelerate the bat head 35 MPH or more in 1/30 of a second requires far more energy than the muscles in the hands, wrists and arms can produce. That kind of energy (about 3 torque HP) must come from the large muscle groups in the legs, back and shoulders. --- That's probably true for batspeed, which can contribute to power. From everything I've learned after years of playing baseball, your "pure power" is generated from your hips and legs. Basically it teaches you skills on concentration, sharpens the mind because of the thousands and thousands of different moves that can be made. Most importantly it creates an analytical way of thought which is very important for younger people to learn for as you will use this in very important decision making throwout life.
